England Takes Lead at Midway Point of Toyota Junior Golf World Cup
supported by JAL

Round of 11-under vaults English to top of leaderboard

TOYOTA CITY, Japan - All four English players carded sub-par scores in the second round of the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup supported by JAL to give their country a three-stroke lead over Denmark and defending-champion Sweden. In the individual competition, American Bud Cauley took over the top spot at 7-under after following his first-round 68 with a 4-under 67.

Using 67s from Matthew Haines and Gary King and a 68 from Eddie Pepperell, England passed five teams, moving from sixth to first at 12-under. Sweden and Denmark sit at 9-under, ahead of Norway at minus-8, USA (-6), Japan (-5), Argentina (-4), Australia (-4), Korea (-2) and South Africa (-1).

Trailing Cauley by a stroke was Japanfs Tomoya Tokunaga at 6-under. Sebastian Cappelen of Denmark and Swedenfs Pontus Widegren sit at minus-5 while five golfers - Elias Bertheussen of Norway, Koreafs Kim Bi-O, Stiggy Hodgson and Gary King of England and Denmarkfs Patrick Winther - are at 4-under.

Completing the field in the team competition were New Zealand (+1), India (+5), Colombia (+14), Mexico (+18), Guatemala (+23) and Kenya (+30).

Round three tees off at 8 AM Friday with the leaders going off last.
