Sweden Looks to Repeat at Toyota Junior Golf
World Cup 2008 supported by JAL
Norwayfs Kristiansen returns to defend individual title

NORMAN, Okla. - When the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup 2008 supported by JAL tees off Wednesday, June 18, Sweden will attempt to become only the third different country to repeat as team champions (USA, England). Joining Sweden in the 2008 field are Argentina, Australia, Colombia, Denmark, England, Guatemala, India, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa and the United States.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup will be held at the Chukyo Golf Club Ishino Course in Toyota City, Japan.

Nine teams from the 2007 field - Sweden (first), Norway (second), Australia (third), South Africa (fifth), New Zealand (sixth), Japan (T-seventh), USA (T-seventh), Mexico (ninth) and Argentina (11th) - are returning in 2008. A total of 11 players from those teams are making their second appearance in the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup.

One of those players is defending-individual champion Anders Kristiansen of Norway. Kristiansen returns to the course where he shot a 14-under 270 to win the individual title by two strokes in 2007. Only one other player has ever successfully defended his individual title - USAfs Justin Roof in the first two tournaments (1992, 1993). The other returning players are Swedenfs Pontus Widegren and Daniel Jennevret who finished fifth and T-29th, respectively, Mauricio Azcue of Mexico (T-6), Australiafs Daniel Nisbet (T-9), Peter Spearman-Burn of New Zealand (T-13), South Africafs Dylan Frittelli (T-13), Frederik Kollevold (T-17) and Are Friestad (T-20) of Norway and Argentinafs Thomas Cocha (T-29) and Armando Zarlenga (T-47).

The four rounds of the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup 2008 will take place June 18-21. A preceding Junior/Am competition and long drive contest are scheduled for June 15.
